Entertainment is the business of providing entertainment to audiences. Often abbreviated to entmt, the term is most often used in the entertainment industry, but is also sometimes used in TV news banners and headlines. It is rarely used in general prose. Here are some examples of use:

If you want to amuse yourself, there are several simple ways to do so. First, you can play a game that involves looking for letters on road signs. You can also watch a movie on your computer. This method requires preparation. It’s not recommended for solemn occasions, but can be fun on a plane.

To amuse

To amuse is to occupy someone’s attention in a pleasant and lighthearted way. People are amused by a variety of things. These activities usually involve playing a game or a funny story, or appealing to a person’s sense of humor. In this context, amusing is more often used than bemusing.
